Our Footprints In The Sand

Sometimes, all it takes is some perspective. All of a sudden, you’re awake again. Like you’ve just woken from a hazy, numb daydream. Everything seems crisp, clean and present.

Moments are fleeting; in a blink, it’s past. One at a time, they slip by, like looking up on a rainy day, watching raindrops falling by.

It’s a lot of responsibility; this life. Something so precious, entrusted to each and every one of us clueless fools, with no instructions on what to do with it. Most of us squander it away, chasing stupid, superficial things that we’re told we want, and society deems makes us more respectable.

The meaning to life seems to be a complex question, having been pondered by many across the ages. But I don’t think the answer is as complicated as it seems. Strip away all the bullshit.. and you’ll see it.

Life is about happiness. Its what we live for.. buying new shiny things; getting an education so you get a good job that you hopefully like; moving to a bigger house.. all for happiness. So simple, yet, many fail to see it.

Real happiness needs to be shared with others to be enjoyed. And thats living. Thats life. In the end, it doesn’t matter how much money you have, what car you drive, what kind of house you live in, or if you have the very latest apple product.

Life is measured in moments; moments spent well. Moments spent sharing happiness, or pursuing happiness. Moments spent finding love. Spent chasing love. Spent IN love.

To say that it’s all we need is being stupid; this world has gone too far for that to work. We have to compromise, and work with the system to survive. We study to get good grades, getting us good jobs (perhaps happy jobs, even), getting us paid so we can take holidays. Some actual, honest, LIVING. It’s an unfortunate necessity of this society we live in.. but to lose sight of why we do all those things; to get caught up in all the barriers and speedbumps along the way; that would be a tragedy.
